Public Art & Community Service
I first moved to Cleveland straight out of art school, where I discovered a city eager to invest in those who would advocate for it. In 2011, I illustrated a series of 100 favorite places in Cleveland, and created a visual reimagining of vacant lots into literary spaces in the following years. These experiences helped me to understand how I could use illustration to contribute to my communities.
I sought out more public art opportunities in Chicago, where I volunteered to be the artistic arm of the 2017 March for Science Chicago, illustrating a slew of art assets to be used on the big day.
Since then, I’ve done both paid and volunteer work whenever I have the opportunity. Public art is a means to give back to my community, whether the art is created to dispense knowledge or to beautify a neighborhood.
